In an effort to promote art and provide access to culture for the greatest number of the public, the City of Montpellier provides this space dedicated to artistic expression. The art exhibition, "Anything Goes" is presented at the Flood Gallery Art Center in Black Mountain, NC.

Exhibit Calendar: Sept 29 - Oct 20, 2018

Black Mountain, North Carolina is famous in the art world for the innovative Black Mountain College (1933 - 1957).

The founders of the college believed that the study and practice of art were indispensable aspects of a student’s general liberal arts education, and they hired Josef Albers to be the first art teacher. Legendary even in its own time, Black Mountain College attracted and created maverick spirits, some of whom went on to become well-known and extremely influential individuals in the latter half of the 20th century. A partial list includes Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Robert Rauschenberg, Josef and Anni Albers, Jacob Lawrence, Merce Cunningham, John Cage, Cy Twombly, Kenneth Noland, Susan Weil, Vera B. Williams, Ben Shahn, Ruth Asawa, Franz Kline, Arthur Penn, Buckminster Fuller along with many others.

Created for the Dadabloge Project sponsored by Mobius Artists Group, Boston, MA. The project is an homage to Tristian Tzara's Dadaglobe which was slated to be published in 1921 but cancelled due to financial and organizational difficulties. Dadaglobe was an anthology of the Dada art movement with its primary intent to be a snapshot of Dada's expanding incarnation.

The Dadabloge Project runs thru the month of June 2018.

A traveling international art exhibit entitled "Viva el Arte" (Live the Art) will be presented throughout Puerto Rico during 2018 / 2019 at various venues - libraries, cultural centers, universities, art galleries and museums. The exhibition dates and locations are posted below in the Exhibition Calendar. I'm grateful to participate in this exhibit, hoping the local Puerto Rican artists and audiences will be encouraged and inspired to overcome their adversities.

In September 2017 Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria, one of the most catastrophic storms that has occurred in recent decades in the Caribbean region. Many of our art museums and cultural institutions, as well as our visual artists suffered damages in their facilities, workshops and art projects, leaving cultural activity in our art scene paralyzed. In these moments of cultural crisis and uneasiness, the Asociación de Artistas Plásticos de Puerto Rico Inc. (the Association of Visual Artists of Puerto Rico in English), desire that the visual arts part of our culture are rehabilitated quickly in the local and international sphere.

This project, Viva el Arte, seeks to demonstrate that regardless of natural or man-made adversities, art and culture will always manifest and shine for the enjoyment of humanity.
